STORYLINE
Today we are Warming Up before our games. Your goal is to follow the Coach and listen to the instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS
- When I say, “GO!” run in the different animal movements from the baseline to the end line.
- Run like a turtle (run slowly and put your arms behind your back)
- Run like a cheetah (run as fast as you can)
- Run like a giraffe (put your arms together above your head to make a long neck)
- Run like an elephant (put your arm out in front of your body to make a trunk)
- Run like a penguin(put your arms out to the sideand waddle)
- Run like a dog
- Swim like a fish (use your arms to swim)
- Duck walk (squat and waddle like a duck)
- Bear crawl
- Hop like a bunny
- Leap like a frog
EQUIPMENT
1 flag per child
2 pylons
1 Nerf football per child
2 ladders
1 hula-hoop
2 short cones
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Football Ladders. Your goal is to catch the football and complete the ladder course.
INSTRUCTIONS
- I will divide you into two groups.
- Before the game begins, line up single file behind your group’s marker cone.
- When I say, “GO!” the first person in line must try and catch a ball Coach throws..
- After you have caught the ball, run through the ladder course and to the end zone.
- Once you have made it into the end zone, return to the back of the line and put your ball back into the hula-hoop.
VARIATIONS
- Play as indicated above.
- Count how many runs each line has completed.
- Change layout of ladders.
TEACHING TIPS
- Remind children they cannot begin running until they have caught the ball.
- If a child does not catch the ball, have them pick it up and continue through the course.
- Quickly toss the ball within a couple of seconds to keep kids from waiting in line for long periods of time

1 noodle per child
1 Nerf football
1 flag per child
1 hula-hoop
1 hula-hoop holder
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Blockers. Your goal is to see how many times you can run through the blockers (noodles) while still holding onto your football.
INSTRUCTIONS
- I will select one person to begin with the football.
- Everyone else will be a blocker.
- Before the game begins, blockers will form a line with their noodles.
- When I say, “GO!” run through the tunnel of blockers.
- If you drop your football pick it up and try again.
- Once you make it through the blockers, throw your ball through the hula-hoop.
- We will begin a new game once I select a new person to begin with the ball.
VARIATIONS
- Play as indicated above.
TEACHING TIPS
- Demonstrate how children should run through the blockers while properly protecting their football.
- Remind children they will not get hurt while running through the blockers.
EQUIPMENT
1 dot per child
1 hula-hoop
1 Nerf football per child
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Target Practice. Your goal is to see how many throws you can make into the target (hula-hoop) with your football.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, line up on the baseline shoulder-to-shoulder with your ball.
- When I say, “GO!” run to any dot on the field and throw your ball into the target.
- If you make the target, retrieve your ball and go to a different dot.
- If a ball bounces out of the target it still counts.
- If you make the target, retrieve your ball and go to a different dot.
- We will begin a new game after a couple of minutes.
VARIATIONS
- Play as indicated above.
- If you make it from a dot bring it back to your seat. Game ends once there are no more dots.
TEACHING TIPS
- Ø Remind students to be aware of others throwing around them to avoid being hit.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing a Football Scrimmage. Your goal is to see how far you can run with the football before being tagged by a defensive player.
INSTRUCTIONS
- I will divide you into two groups – offense and defense – using flags to tell who you are.
- Before the game begins, the offense will line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline.
- I will select which three offenders to start off with a ball.
- The defense will line up on the end line.
- When I say, “GO!” offenders will run as fast as they can to the end zone.
- Defenders will try and tag offenders.
- If you are tagged you must freeze where you are.
- Offenders can pass the ball to their teammates at any point.
- If you are frozen and pass your ball off to a teammate, you can start moving again.
- When every offender has been tagged or has made it into the end zone we will begin a new game.
VARIATIONS
- Play as indicated above.
TEACHING TIPS
- Have children play a couple of rounds before having them switch offender and defender roles.
- Remind children to use two-finger butterfly tags only
- Encourage passing by participating.
