STORYLINE
Today we are Warming Up before our games. Your goal is to follow Coach and listen to the instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS
When I say, “GO!” run in the different animal movements from the baseline to the end line:
Run like a turtle (run slowly and put your arms behind your back)
Run like a cheetah (run as fast as you can)
Run like a giraffe (put your arms together above your head to make a long neck)
Run like an elephant (put your arm out in front of your body to make a trunk)
Run like a penguin (put your arms out to the side and waddle)
Run like a dog
Swim like a fish (use your arms to swim)
Duck walk (squat and waddle like a duck)o Bear crawl
Hop like a bunny
Leap like a frog
EQUIPMENT
1 soccer ball per child
20 tall cones
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Volcanoes. In this game, you are on an island of volcanoes (cones). You do not want to touch the volcanoes because they will erupt and pop your soccer ball.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up on the baseline with your ball.
When I say, “GO!” start dribbling around the field avoiding the volcanoes.
If you, or your ball, touches a volcano you must dribble to the teacher and give them a high-five.
Game 1: Play as indicated above. Children walk while dribbling with both feet.
Game 2: Children dribble with their right foot only.
Game 3: Children dribble with the left foot only.
Game 4: Children must dribble as fast as they can.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Remind children to keep their heads up while dribbling to avoid bumping into others and volcanoes.
Approach: Remind children they should be dribbling and not kicking the ball far forward. Children should not be more than two feet away from their soccer ball.
Approach: Children should not hit any volcanoes.
Discussion: Ask children to share who they saw doing a good job avoiding the volcanoes.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Flock of Feathers. Your goal is to dribble and kick your soccer ball at the Coach’s feet so that he/she sheds all their feathers.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline with your ball.
When I say, “GO!” start dribbling around the field.
When your ball hits my feet, I will shed a feather.
When I have dropped a feather you can pick it up and keep it.
We will begin a new round, when I have no more feathers left.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Secure all the feathers around your waist. When a child hits your feet they are allowed to pull a feather from your body.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Remind children to keep their heads up while dribbling to avoid bumping into others.
Approach: Remind children they should be kicking the ball forward. Children should not be more than two feet away from their soccer ball.
Discussion: Ask children to share who they saw doing a good job using their feet to kick the ball.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Kick Coach. Your goal is to kick your ball into Coach’s feet.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up on the baseline shoulder-to-shoulder with your ball.
When I say, “GO!” start to chase Coach around the field and kick your ball into his/her feet.
Remember to keep your head up so you do not bump into anyone else.
When I say, “Freeze!” you must dribble your ball to your dot and sit down.
Game 1: Play as indicated above. Children walk while dribbling with both feet.
Game 2: Children dribble with their right foot only.
Game 3: Children dribble with the left foot only.
Game 4: Children must dribble as fast as they can.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Coach runs around the field pretending to try and get away from the children.
Approach: When a child hits the coach with a ball cry, “Ouch! Oh no you got me!”
Discussion: Ask children to share who they saw dribbling and kicking their ball at Coach’s feet.
EQUIPMENT

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Scrimmage D. Your goal is to shoot a soccer ball into the opposing team’s goal.
INSTRUCTIONS
I will divide you into two teams –using pinnies to tell who you are.
Before the game begins, line up with your team on either the baseline or end line shoulder-to-shoulder.
When I say, “GO!” I will roll the ball into the field.
You cannot touch the ball with your hands, you can only kick the ball.
There are no goalies, you must stand 3 – 5 feet away from your goal when defending.
If a goal is scored, go back to your team’s side and we will begin a new round.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Divide teams equally based on athletic ability.
Approach: Add short cones around the goal if defenders are staying 3 – 5 feet away.
Discussion: Ask children to share what was easy or hard about keeping the ball close while dribbling.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Growing Dinosaur. Your goal is to avoid being tagged by the dinosaur.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline.
When I say, “GO!” dribble to the end line.
I will begin as a baby dinosaur.
When you get close I will crack out of my shell and become an adult dinosaur.
When I am an adult dinosaur I will try and tag you.
If you are on the baseline or end line you are safe and cannot be tagged.
Game 1: Play as indicated above. Coach becomes an adult dinosaur every time children dribble to the end line.
Game 2: Coach lets children dribble back and forth a couple of times to create anticipation before becoming an adult dinosaur.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Coach begins curled up in a ball as the baby dinosaur.
Discussion: Ask children to share who they saw doing a good job at dribbling with both feet.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Sneaky Snake. Your goal is to sneak around the field like a snake when I blow my whistle.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up on the baseline shoulder-to-shoulder with your ball.
When I say, “GO!” start running around the field.
When I blow my whistle you must get down on your tummy and slither like a snake around the field.
When I say, “SNAKES UP!” you can get up and start running again.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Add a soccer ball. Children dribble around the field and when the whistle blows they must slither around their soccer ball.
Game 3: Add a goal. Children can try and score a goal when dribbling.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Coaches can use a whistle, hand signal or another form of getting the children’s attention to signal when the child should start slithering.
Discussion: Ask children to share who they saw doing a good job at kicking the ball with their laces.
