STORYLINE
Today we are playing Foxes and Bunnies. In this game, you are bunnies trying to get back to your rabbit hole (circle of cones). Your goal is to get back to your rabbit hole without getting caught by the fox (tagger).
INSTRUCTIONS
- At the beginning of each round, the fox starts inside the rabbit hole and the bunnies start behind the row of cones.
- The round begins when the fox starts counting down from 10.
- While the fox is counting, the bunnies hop around on two feet.
- When the fox gets to zero, he/she will yell, “Here comes the fox!” and all the bunnies have to get to the rabbit hole without being tagged.
- If you are tagged, you become a fox.
- The tagger(s) must use a two-finger butterfly tag.
Game 1: Teacher is the fox.
Game 2: Teacher selects 2-3 students to begin as foxes.
TEACHING TIPS
- Safety: Remind students to be aware of their surroundings and to avoid bumping into others.
- Discussion: Ask students to share examples of who they saw doing a good job at keeping their head up and not bumping into others while being a bunny.
