STORYLINE
Today we are playing Avalanche. Your goal is to make it to the end line without being hit by a snowball (fuzzy ball).
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline.
- When I say, “GO!” dribble to the end line with your ball.
- The Coach will be on the sideline throwing snowballs at you.
- Try to make it across without getting hit.
- We will begin a new game once everyone has made it across.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Children continuously dribble back and forth.
Game 3: If a child is hit with a snowball, he/she must complete a physical challenge (jumping jacks, run a lap etc.)
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Remind children to keep their heads up while dribbling to avoid bumping into others.
