Today we are playing Groundhog Day. Today is “Groundhog Day,” but the groundhogs don’t seem to want to out if there will be six more weeks of Spring or Winter, we need to get the groundhogs to come out by knocking on their holes to wake them up. The objective is to work with your team to “wake up the groundhog” by performing the skill on top of the “groundhog hole.”

INSTRUCTIONS

  • The teacher will divide you into 4 teams.
  • Line up with your teammates behind your starting cone and the first player in line starts with the ball.
  • At the beginning of each round, the teacher will demonstrate the skill and then it is your team’s turn.
  • When the teacher says “GO!” take turns with your teammates carrying the ball down to the "groundhog hole" or dot and dribbling the ball on it for as many times as the skill asks for.
  • After completing the skill, run back to your team and hand the ball to the next player in line.
  • At the end of a round, the teacher might say, “We might need to try that skill again. I’m not sure if he heard us” or "Looks like we have to try even harder to get him to come out. Let's add a few bounces."

Game 2: Bounce and dribble twice and carry back
Game 3: Bounce and dribble three times and carry back
