STORYLINE
Today we are going to start class by taking a few trips. We'll take start on our dots an take a car, a plane and a train!
OPENING RUNS
- Today we're going to take some trips. Grab your steering wheels, we're going to go for our first drive!
- Have kids pretend to drive their "cars" to one end of the field and park their cars at their dots.
- Drive to the park and ask kids, "what do you see at the park? do you like to use the slide? the swings?"
- Drive to the zoo and ask kids, "what animals do you see at the zoo? what animal has a long trunk?"
- Drive to Disneyland or the grocery store or movies and ask kids, "what do you see at these places"
- Then say, "now we're going to be airplanes!" Collect all of the steering wheels.
- Fly to Hawaii and ask kids, "what animals live in the ocean?"
- Have kids do the hula dance with you for extra fun
- Fly to Hawaii and ask kids, "what animals live in the ocean?"
- Then say, "now we're going to be a train!" Put your arm up and say, "Chooo, choo, we're going to take the train to San Francisco.
- Train to SF and ask kids, "what's the big bridge called in San Francisco?"
- Show kids how to make a bridge with their hands and say, "the Golden Gate bridge is red! What color is the bridge?"
- Train to SF and ask kids, "what's the big bridge called in San Francisco?"
- Add any variations needed to make it more fun or take different trips.

1 green dot, 1 red dot, 1 yellow dot, 1 purple dot, 1 blue dot

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Red Light, Green Light. In this game, we are practicing our shapes and colors as we drive on the road.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline with your parent.
- I will pass out a steering wheel (foam ring) to everyone.
- Parents, help your child run forward when I say, “Green light!” (hold up green dot).
- Parents, help your child stop when I say, “Red light!” (hold up red dot.)
- Parents, help your child walk slowly when I saw, "Yellow light!" (hold up a yellow dot).
- Once everyone is on the end line, we can try running when we see the green light.
- After a few rounds, add mored lights. "Purple light" means dance party and "blue light" means jumping jacks!
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Remind parents to help their children stop and go.
- Approach: If the class is ready, have children try playing a final round where children are independent.

6 Different colored hula hoops

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Hula-Hoop Countdown. In this game, we will be practicing our social play as we share hula-hoops.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, find a spot outside of hula-hoops.
- When I say, "GO!" I will begin the countdown from 10.
- As I am counting down, parents help your child walk around the hula-hoops.
- When I reach zero, parent's help your child find a hula-hoop to stand in.
- At the end of each round, I will remove a hula-hoop.
- When there are less hula-hoops, be ready to share with your classmates.
- Let's see if we can have the whole class (only children) in just one hula-hoop.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: If class is large, end the game with two or three hula-hoops.

STORYLINE
Now we are playing what is this soccer ball and how do I use it?
INSTRUCTIONS
- Ask parents for assistance demonstrating.
- Say, "Everyone, show me your hands and wave them in the air!" Demonstrate this and ask parents to also.
- Say, "Everyone, show me your hands and clap them together" Demonstrate this and ask parents to also.
- Say, "Everyone, show me your left foot and wave it in the air" Demonstrate this and ask parents to also.
- Say, "Everyone, show me your right foot and wave it in the air" Demonstrate this and ask parents to also.
- Say, "Everyone, repeat after coach, we only use our feet in soccer." Demonstrate this and ask parents to also.
- Repeat through 2-3 times before they understand that they only use feet in soccer and not hands. The pass out balls.
- Say, "Now, we're going to be in soccer position. Show me soccer position with your hands on your hips and your ball at your feet.
- When I say go, kick the ball to the other end of the field, GO!"
- After bringing everyone back to their dots, teach them how to stop the balls by putting a foot on top.
- Say, "Now we're going to learn how to stop our balls!"
- Say, "Put your foot on top, take your foot down."
- Add your own variations as you'd like.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Red Light, Green Light. In this game, we are sports cars driving on the road. Your goal is to watch and listen to the traffic light as you drive with your soccer ball.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, you must line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline. I will pass out a soccer ball.
- When I say, “Green light!” begin dribbling forward.
- When I say, “Red light!” stop your ball and freeze in place.
- Each time you add a new light, have kids go back to their dots and demonstrate the skill.
- Add a “yellow light” for children to toe tap on their ball.
- Add a "purple light" for dance parties.
- Add a "blue light" for jumping jacks.
Game 1: Depending on class skill, play without soccer balls.
Game 2: Add a “yellow light” for children to toe tap on their ball.
Variation: Coach can hold up color dots to indicate when the traffic light changes color.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Hungry Hippos. In this game, we are practicing our running and kicking as we kick the soccer balls into the hungry hippo’s mouth.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, find a seated spot on the baseline with your parent. I will pass out a soccer ball to everyone.
- When I say, “GO!” parents help your children kick their soccer balls into all the hungry hippos’ mouths.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Allow children to pick up the soccer balls. Some children may not be ready to dribble the soccer ball to the hippo's mouth.
- Approach: Encourage children to kick their soccer ball into each mouth.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Hot Potato. In this game, we will be practicing our social play as we pass the potato (bean bag) to the person sitting next to us.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, parents, help your child find a spot seated in the circle.
- We will begin with a practice round.
- When I say, “GO!” parents help your child pass (not throw) the potato to the child sitting next to him/her.
Now, this time, I will need everyone to help me sing the song as we pass the potato. The lyrics are:
- One potato, two potatoes, three potatoes, four.
- Five potatoes, six potatoes, seven potatoes, more.
- Let’s see who has the potato when we sing the last lyric, “more”.
- Then, we will continue singing.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: This is not an elimination game but game for children to practice passing and sharing to others.
- Approach: Encourage children not to throw the beanbag to the person sitting next to them.

Big parachute

STORYLINE
Today we are ending our class with a parachute game. We are going to try to make a big cave with our parachute.
CLEAN UP
- Have kids clean up the equipment using color (i.e. Pick up a piece of equipment that is red, blue, green etc.)
CLOSING PARACHUTE
- Make big waves with the parachute like the ocean!
- Make small waves like the lake!
- Now we're going to make a cave. Tell parents that on the count of 3, we're going to lift the parachute to the sky and walk 3 steps forward, placing the parachute under our bottoms to make a cave.
- If the cave is not high enough, make the cave again.
- Once under the parachute, choose a few songs to sing based on how much time you have left:

- Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes
- The Wheels on the Bus
- Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
- Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
