STORYLINE
Today we are going to start class by taking a few trips. We'll start on our dots and take a car, a plane and a train!
OPENING RUNS
- Today we're going to take some trips. Grab your steering wheels, we're going to go for our first drive!
- Have kids pretend to drive their "cars" to one end of the field and park their cars at their dots.
- Drive to the park and ask kids, "what do you see at the park? do you like to use the slide? the swings?"
- Drive to the zoo and ask kids, "what animals do you see at the zoo? what animal has a long trunk?"
- Drive to Disneyland or the grocery store or movies and ask kids, "what do you see at these places"
- Then say, "now we're going to be airplanes!" Collect all of the steering wheels.
- Fly to Hawaii and ask kids, "what animals live in the ocean?"
- Have kids do the hula dance with you for extra fun
- Fly to Hawaii and ask kids, "what animals live in the ocean?"
- Then say, "now we're going to be a train!" Put your arm up and say, "Chooo, choo, we're going to take the train to San Francisco.
- Train to SF and ask kids, "what's the big bridge called in San Francisco?"
- Show kids how to make a bridge with their hands and say, "the Golden Gate bridge is red! What color is the bridge?"
- Train to SF and ask kids, "what's the big bridge called in San Francisco?"
- Add any variations needed to make it more fun or take different trips.
EQUIPMENT
1 soccer ball per child
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Meteor Shower. In this game, you are astronauts in space when you see a crazy alien. Your goal is kick your moon rock (soccer ball) towards the alien.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, spread out onto the field with your ball.
- I will begin as the alien.
- When I say, “GO!” begin dribbling your moon rock towards the alien as he/she runs away.
- Once you are near the alien, try to kick your moon rock in his/her direction.
- See how many times your moon rock can hit the alien.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: If Coach gets hit with a fuzzy ball, pretend to fall down or get injured.
- Safety: Remind children to be aware of the other balls being kicked around them.
EQUIPMENT

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Goalie Kicks. Your goal is to try and make a shot on goal.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline.
- When I say, “GO!” run to the hula-hoop and get a soccer ball.
- Once you have a ball, try and kick it into any goal.
- Once you have shot on goal, retrieve your ball and try another goal.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Have children shot on goal into one specific goal. Choose another goal after that.
Game 3: Coach can defend at different goals. Allow children to make shots on goal when defending.
Game 4: Rearrange the goals.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Have parents help their children to avoid kicking the ball into the goal while others are retrieving their ball.
EQUIPMENT

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Cross the Moat. Your goal is to run from the baseline to the end line while jumping over the alligators (balance beams) in the moat.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, you must line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline.
- When I say, “GO!” run as fast as you can to the end line.
- When you come across an alligator, you must jump over it.
- If you touch an alligator, you must start over back at the beginning.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Rearrange the alligators so they are farther apart or in a different pattern.
Game 3: Turn the balance beams into tunnels. Have children run through the tunnels instead.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Remind children to keep their heads up while running to avoid bumping into others.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Baseball Lava. In this game, a volcano has erupted during our baseball game. Your goal is to hit the ball off the tee and balance along the beams to the bases without falling into the hot lava!
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, line up single file behind home plate.
- When I call your name, come up to home plate and get ready to bat. Have parents help their children bat the ball off the tee.
- Once you hit the ball off the tee, it is a home run!
- Make your way around the baseball diamond by balancing on the beams to each base.
- If you fall into the hot lava, quickly get back on the beam and continue.
- Once you have reached 1st base, the next child can come up to bat.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Remind children to keep their heads up while balancing on the beams.
- Approach: If children are taking a while to finish the course, remove two balance beams.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Football Obstacle Course. Your goal is to make your way from the beginning of the obstacle course to the end.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, line up single file behind the marker cone.
- When I say, “GO!” the first person in line will make his/her way across the balance beams, high-knee through the hula-hoops, weave around the tall cones and throw their football through the last hula-hoop.
- If you fall off the balance beams, restart and try again.
- The next person in line can go when the person in front of you has made it onto the second balance beam.
- Once you have made your throw, retrieve your ball and restart.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Remind children it is not a race when going through the obstacle course. It is more important they can do it correctly.
- Approach: Encourage parents to help their child or hold their hand when balancing on the balance beam.
- Safety: Demonstrate how to go through the obstacle course before beginning.

Large parachute
STORYLINE
Today we are ending our class with a parachute game. We are going to try to make a big cave with our parachute.
CLEAN UP
- Have kids clean up the equipment using color (i.e. Pick up a piece of equipment that is red, blue, green etc.)
CLOSING PARACHUTE
- Make big waves with the parachute like the ocean!
- Make small waves like the lake!
- Now we're going to make a cave. Tell parents that on the count of 3, we're going to lift the parachute to the sky and walk 3 steps forward, placing the parachute under our bottoms to make a cave.
- If the cave is not high enough, make the cave again.
- Once under the parachute, choose a few songs to sing based on how much time you have left:
