STORYLINE
Today we are Warming Up before our games. Your goal is to follow the Coach and listen to the instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS
When I say, “GO!” run in the different animal movements from the baseline to the end line.
Run like a turtle (run slowly and put your arms behind your back)
Run like a cheetah (run as fast as you can)
Run like a giraffe (put your arms together above your head to make a long neck)
Run like an elephant (put your arm out in front of your body to make a trunk)
Run like a penguin(put your arms out to the sideand waddle)
Run like a dog
Swim like a fish (use your arms to swim)
Duck walk (squat and waddle like a duck)
Bear crawl
Hop like a bunny
Leap like a frog
EQUIPMENT
10 short cones
1 soccer ball per child
STORYLINE
Today we are practicing Kicking. Your goal is to kick the soccer ball as far as you can.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the practice begins, you must line up on the baseline.
When I say, “Go” kick the ball as far as you can without moving from the line.
After every child has kicked the ball, have them retrieve it and bring it back to the line.
Try other variations once they have practiced a little.
VARIATIONS
Kick normally.
Return the ball without using hands to pick up ball.
Use only left/right foot
TEACHING TIPS
Demonstrate the process of kicking and returning.
Remind children to only kick the ball once before retrieving it.
Supervise to make sure they are doing it correctly.
EQUIPMENT
1 tall cone per child
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Knock ‘Em Down. Your goal is to knock all the cones over using your feet.
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up on the baseline.
When I say, “GO!” start running around the field, kicking cones down.
When I say, “Freeze!" you must stop.
When all the cones have been kicked over, set them back up using your feet.
VARIATIONS
Have each child stand on baseline with a cone and try kicking it from there.
Have a target cone/tower for children to try and knock down while kicking from the baseline.
TEACHING TIPS
Remind children to use their biggest kicks.
Remind children to not hit other students when kicking cones
EQUIPMENT

STORYLINE
Today we are practicing Dribbling. Your goal is to control the ball with your feet
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the practice begins, you must line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline with your ball.
When I say, “Start” begin dribbling the ball with both feet.
When I say, “Stop!” freeze by putting one foot on the ball.
Try other variations once they have practiced a little
VARIATION
Dribble with both feet.
Right/Left foot only
TEACHING TIPS
Demonstrate how to Dribble to the children.
Have children put their arms out to the sides (like an airplane) to help them balance better.
Remind children they should be dribbling and not kicking the ball far forward.
EQUIPMENT
1 soccer ball per child
12 fuzzy balls (4 red, 4 blue, 4 yellow)
3 hula-hoops (1 red, 1 blue, 1 yellow)
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Cookie Jar. Your goal is to help Cookie Monster (coach) put all the cookies (dots) back into the correct color cookie jar (hula-hoop).
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline with your ball.
When I say, “GO!” begin dribbling your ball around the field.
Once you pick up a cookie, dribble your ball to the correct color cookie jar to drop it in.
You can only pick up one cookie at a time.
We will begin a new game when all the cookies have been put back in the correct color cookie jar.
VARIATIONS
Play as indicated above.
Have children try to put a certain number of cookies in each jar.
Dribble cookies without soccer ball.
TEACHING TIPS
Remind children to keep their heads up to avoid bumping into others while dribbling.
Remind children to keep their ball close to their body.
Remind children to only pick up one cookie at time.
EQUIPMENT

2 flags or pinnies
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Pirate Possession. In this game, you are ships in the ocean. Your goal is pass your goods (soccer ball) back and forth with your partner, without getting your ball taken by the pirate.
INSTRUCTIONS
I will select two people to be pirates – using flags to tell who the are.
I will then split you into teams of two with one person holding the soccer ball.
Before the game begins, spread out in the field while staying inside the boundary cones.
When I say, “GO!” dribble around the field with your ball.
If your ball gets stolen by a pirate and he/she scores a goal, then you become a pirate.
We will begin a new round when there are no more balls left.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Two pirates cannot “team-up” on a child.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Traffic Light. Your goal is to dribble your soccer ball to the other side of the field to reach the traffic light (coach).
INSTRUCTIONS
Before the game begins, you must line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline with your ball.
When I say, “Green light!” begin dribbling forward.
When I say, “Red light!” freeze and balance one foot on the ball.
VARIATIONS
Children walk and dribble on green light.
Children run and dribble on green light.
Incorporate a “purple light” for dance parties.
TEACHING TIPS
Remind children that this is not a race.
Remind children they should be dribbling and not kicking the ball far forward.
Have children put their arms out to the sides (like an airplane) to help them balance better.

1 soccer ball per pair
STORYLINE
Today we are playing Long Shot. Your goal is get a pass from your partner and then dribble to shoot in the goal.
INSTRUCTIONS
I will divide you into pairs.
Before the game begins, line up single file behind your group's marker cone.
The first person in line will start with the ball.
When I say, "GO!" dribble to the first cone and pass to your partner down the field.
Your partner should be open down the field ready to receive the ball.
When your partner receives the ball, he or she should dribble to take a shot.
Once everyone has shot, we will switch sides so everyone gets a chance to shoot and pass.
Play several 2-3 rounds.
Round 3: Split kids up into groups of three. Two people pass and shoot and one defender.
TEACHING TIPS
Approach: Remind children to keep their heads up while dribbling to avoid bumping into others.
Approach: Remind students the closer they keep their ball to their body, the less chance it has to be stolen during Game 3.
