STORYLINE
Today we are going to start class by taking a few trips. We'll start on our dots and take a car, a plane and a train!
OPENING RUNS
- Today we're going to take some trips. Grab your steering wheels, we're going to go for our first drive!
- Have kids pretend to drive their "cars" to one end of the field and park their cars at their dots.
- Drive to the park and ask kids, "what do you see at the park? do you like to use the slide? the swings?"
- Drive to the zoo and ask kids, "what animals do you see at the zoo? what animal has a long trunk?"
- Drive to Disneyland or the grocery store or movies and ask kids, "what do you see at these places"
- Then say, "now we're going to be airplanes!" Collect all of the steering wheels.
- Fly to Hawaii and ask kids, "what animals live in the ocean?"
- Have kids do the hula dance with you for extra fun
- Fly to Hawaii and ask kids, "what animals live in the ocean?"
- Then say, "now we're going to be a train!" Put your arm up and say, "Chooo, choo, we're going to take the train to San Francisco.
- Train to SF and ask kids, "what's the big bridge called in San Francisco?"
- Show kids how to make a bridge with their hands and say, "the Golden Gate bridge is red! What color is the bridge?"
- Train to SF and ask kids, "what's the big bridge called in San Francisco?"
- Add any variations needed to make it more fun or take different trips.
EQUIPMENT

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Beach Toss. Your goal is to see how many times you can catch your beach ball.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, spread out onto the field with your ball.
- When I say, “GO!” toss the ball in the air and try and catch it.
- See how many times you can make a complete catch in-a-row.
Game 1: Play as indicated above. Encourage children to increase the number of catches they make each round.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Remind children only caught balls count.
- Safety: Remind children to be aware of the other balls being thrown around them.
EQUIPMENT

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Mr. Fox. In this game, you are traveling through the woods with your basket (ball) and you need to know the time. Your goal is to ask Mr. Fox what time it is before it is dinner time.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, line up shoulder-to-shoulder on the baseline with your basket.
- Coach will begin as Mr. Fox.
- When I say, “GO!” shout, “what time is it, Mr. Fox?”
- Throw and catch your basket as you step forward for each hour Mr. Fox says.
- When Mr. Fox says, “It’s dinner time!” run with your basket back to the baseline without getting tagged.
Game 1: Play as indicated above. Call out different time up to 3 o’clock.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Consider allowing the children to reach the baseline without getting tagged for the first few games.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Swampy River. In this game, your goal is to throw and catch the ball as many times as possible while the river grows larger and larger.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, finds a spot with your ball behind a cone.
- When I say, “GO!” throw the ball to your parent.
- If your ball falls into the river, quickly pick it up before an alligator eats it.
- Once the ball you have thrown the ball, be ready to catch.
- The river will widen at the beginning of each new game.
- You must stay behind the river boundary when you are serving.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Children have to make five complete passes before widening the river.
Game 3: Teacher can be an alligator and pretend to snatch the ball.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: Let children throw and catch the ball at least three times before widening the river.
- Approach: Consider not using cones and jump ropes if children have a hard time keeping the equipment on the ground.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Meatball Mayhem. In this game, meatballs are falling from the sky and into your yard. Your goal is to throw the meatballs back over the fence.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, find a spot on one side of the fence.
- When I say, “GO!” begin throwing meatballs over the fence.
- Remember to stay on your side of the fence. More meatballs will rain (Coach will continue to throw the meatballs back over).
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Have children try to get more meatballs onto Coach’s side than Coach can get on theirs.
Game 3: Have children throw meatballs to their parents.
Variation: Lay out hula-hoops out as bowls of spaghetti for children to throw the meatballs into.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: If a child does not want to play the game, consider designating him/her as the ball master, where he/she can help collect the balls that go out-of-bounds.
- Safety: Remind children to make sure there is no one directly in front of them when they are throwing.

STORYLINE
Today we are playing Popcorn. In this game, we are getting very hungry! Your goal is to work together to pop the popcorn (beach balls) off the parachute.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Before the game begins, find a seat holding onto the parachute.
- When I say, “GO!” begin shaking the parachute and popping the popcorn.
- Work together to get all the popcorn off the parachute.
- We will begin a new game when all the popcorn is popped off.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach: If a child does not want to play the game, consider designating him/her as the ball master, where he/she can rescue balls that go out -of- bounds.

Large parachute
STORYLINE
Today we are ending our class with a parachute game. We are going to try to make a big cave with our parachute.
CLEAN UP
- Have kids clean up the equipment using color (i.e. Pick up a piece of equipment that is red, blue, green etc.)
CLOSING PARACHUTE
- Make big waves with the parachute like the ocean!
- Make small waves like the lake!
- Now we're going to make a cave. Tell parents that on the count of 3, we're going to lift the parachute to the sky and walk 3 steps forward, placing the parachute under our bottoms to make a cave.
- If the cave is not high enough, make the cave again.
- Once under the parachute, choose a few songs to sing based on how much time you have left:

- The Wheels on the Bus
- Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
- Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
