PREFACE
Today we are playing Agalmata. Your goal is to freeze and hold your famous statue pose and be the last statue standing.
INSTRUCTIONS
I will choose one camper to be "It" and have they will stand, eyes covered, in the center of the playing field.
Camper will start to count, at least to 10 but can go higher if they would like. Only the camper who is “IT” knows when they will stop.
As the camper is counting, the others scatter around the field.
When the camper is done counting, they must yell “Agalmata” (Statue in Greek).
On this cue, players freeze, taking on poses that mimic famous statues. (i.e The Thinker, Statue of Liberty, etc.)
If any statues are still moving, the camper who is “IT” must tag them.
If you get tagged, you are out until the next round.
The camper who is “IT” can then try to make the steady statues laugh or move.
The last player remaining composed is the winner and becomes the new "It."
Younger Group Variation (Bumblebees, Dragonflies, and Pink Panthers): Consider asking space questions the kids will be able to answer.
Variation: Give bonus questions that let them “save” teammates and let them rejoin
TEACHING TIPS
Remind campers about honesty.
It’s just a game, be supportive.
