PREFACE
Today we are playing 3,2,1 Blast Off. Your goal is to make a space ship and launch it the furthest.
INSTRUCTIONS
The field will be set up where all campers are sitting on the outside of the center lines.
Teams will be sectioned into different spaces on the field.
Each team will select 2 “pilots” at a time (based on the size of team) to participate
The teams will have 4 minutes to make 2 airplanes that they will use in the challenge.
After the 4 minutes are up, all teams will meet up at the center of the field and the 2 selected “pilots” will have 2 tries to throw their space ship as far as possible.CIT’s and Counselors will judges and marks of where the planes land using color-coded cones
Younger Group Variation (Bumblebees, Dragonflies, and Pink Panthers): Help the young groups make the spaceships and set up closer scoring zones to make it make it a little easier for the them. Also do test flight rounds where they can practice before liftoff.
TEACHING TIPS
All campers are encouraged to make an airplane. Coaches and CITS should help facilitate which plane and pilot gets picked.
The person whose airplane is selected should not also be the pilot unless the whole team decides otherwise.
