PREFACE
Today we are playing the Basketball Shooting Challenge. Your goal is to make a basketball and pass it on to your teammate so everyone can make one and finish first.

SET-UP

  • The camp manager should have Coaches and CIT setting up basketball nets symmetrically on the court.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • The Camp Manager will explain the rules of the game as each team is sitting in their designated area.

    • This is a timed event.

    • Each team will have to make a basket and pass the ball to their teammates that will be waiting in line.

      • Small hoops will be set up for the Bumblebee and Pink Panthers.

      • The older campers will have the option at shooting at either the 10ft or 8ft hoops in the center and sides

        • The campers can take 3pt shots or can lay the ball up.

    • First team whose whole team makes a shot wins

Younger Group Variation (Bumblebees, Dragonflies, and Pink Panthers): Use smaller baskets and have the campers shoot a little closer then usual so the younger campers can have a higher success rate.

TEACHING TIPS

  • Have Coaches/CITs reinforce that they can only pass the ball off once the shooter makes the shot.

  • Have Coaches assist campers having difficulty

  • Remember, its just a game
