Today we are playing Clean Up Your Yard. Your goal is to keep as many balls out of your yard by throwing them into the other team’s yard.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Each team is sitting together and listening to Camp Manager as they explain the rules and coaches are doing set-up.

    • The camp manager should have 1 coach dividing the field with cones into 2-4.

    • Another coach should be spacing the balls out evenly between side

  • Each round, every team will send out X amount of their players depending on camp size

    • Games will be a Best of 5 series

    • Participants get 30 seconds to “clean up their yard”

      • Team with the least amount of balls wins

  • When the camp manager says, “GO!” each team will throw all of the balls from their side to the other team’s side.

    • You may not throw a ball at another student on the other team.

    • You may only throw one ball at a time. NO Kicking balls

  • After 30 seconds, each team will collect and count all of the balls on only their side.

Variation: Add penalties for kicking balls or holding more than 1 such as push-ups, jumping jacks, etc

TEACHING TIPS

  • If a camper does not want to play the game, consider designating him/her as the ball master, where he/she can rescue the balls that go out-of-bounds.

  • Remind campers to make sure there is no one directly in front of them when they are throwing.

  • Remind campers about honesty and sportsmanship during counting and camp overall
