EQUIPMENT

2-5 Soccer Balls for each group

PREFACE
Today we are playing Soccer Shoot-Out. Your goal is to make as many goals as possible in order to beat the other teams.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Each team is sitting together and listening to Camp Manager as they explain the rules and coaches are doing set-up.

    • The camp manager should have 1 coach as the Goalie. They will be the one defending the goal from soccer balls.

  • Each round, every team will send out 3 of their players depending on camp size

    • Each player gets 1 soccer ball each.

    • One team will go at a time and can choose to take turns kicking or do it at the same time.

      • For every goal they make, they get 1 point. If they make all of them, they get 5(# of Balls + 2) points.

    • Continue until everyone on each team gets to participate or until game time runs out. (~20 minutes)

      • Remember to keep score and be supportive (You can give bonus points for good sportsmanship)

Younger Group Variation (Bumblebees, Dragonflies, and Pink Panthers): Consider having a coach play goalie, but either has limited moving cannot move at all to give the campers the chance to score. If you choose to pick a camper goalie, consider using PUG goals.

TEACHING TIPS

  • You can give bonus points for good sportsmanship

  • You can go easy on them and let balls through. Play it up though.
