PREFACE
The object of the game is to create and perform a spell to amaze all other campers!
INSTRUCTIONS
Have each team ready and listening to instructions.
The camp manager will have each team standing with a coach in their section of the field.
Each team will be working with their coach to perform a “spell” that they have decided on
The coach will decide what spell you are performing with input from campers (such as a “super-speed” spell or a “tornado” spell
Once the spell has been decided, the team must show the spell in action!
A “super-speed” spell could be demonstrated by a “wizard”(the coach) casting the spell(by saying it’s name or magic phrase) on some slow-motion campers and they start running faster
A “tornado” spell could be demonstrated by having campers run and spin in a circle after the spell is cast.
A “fireball” spell could be all the campers throwing volleyballs at a “target”
a “time-freeze” spell could have all the campers dancing and then frozen once the spell is cast
Have each Coach guide campers on how to perform the spell and work together to make it magical!
A creative spell will have a creative chant!
(“Roses are red, violets are blue, when I say Pizza the cones goes kaboom!)
(“1, 2, 3 it’s time to freeze!”)
Variation: A shy camper could be the wizard
Variation: Lightning round: a “wizard”(camp manager) creates a spell name on the spot and each team must perform their interpretation of it to see who does it best.
TEACHING TIPS
Encourage campers to be creative and cooperative
Make the spell simple, but don’t be afraid to make it big!
