EQUIPMENT
Flat ladders, Hurdles, Balance Beams, Soccer Ball/Goals, Dots, Cones, and Baseball Bats.
IMPORTANT - This game requires set-up time before hand.
PREFACE
Today we are playing Team Relay. Your goal is to work together finish obstacle course.
SET-UP
The camp manager should have Coaches and CIT setting up the course beforehand or during the explanation. (Refer to course drawing or course instructions as needed)
INSTRUCTIONS
The game should have been set up before hand. Have Coaches keep an eye out and make sure each team understands how to go through the course directly.
The Camp Manager will explain the rules of the game as each team is sitting in their designated area.
Each team will line up in order to go through the course, only 1 person at a time
When the Camp Manager blows the whistle, the first person in line will start running
First run through the ladder 1 step at a time - no skipping squares
Jump over every hurdle
Put their forehead on the baseball bat’s handle and spin 3 full circles while counting out loud
Run across the balance beam
Kick the soccer ball into the goal
Hop across the Hopscotch section touching every dot
Weave through the cone line
Run straight back to their team and high-five the next person in
First team to get through the obstacle course and sit down wins.
Younger Group Variation (Bumblebees, Dragonflies, and Pink Panthers): Consider having less obstacles to make it a little more easier for the and shortening the length of the of the course.
TEACHING TIPS
Have coaches/CITs make sure they are doing the course correctly. If they fall off or mess up they must re-do it before continuing.
All contestants must be in their line and wait for a high-five before going
Depending on time constraints take out portions of the course.
