Objective: Campers will create customizable, colorful slime, encouraging creativity, sensory exploration, and a basic understanding of chemical reactions.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

  • Explain the activity, highlighting creativity, sensory fun, and simple chemistry.

  • Discuss safety guidelines (no tasting, keeping ingredients away from eyes).

2. Demonstration and Making (10 minutes)

  • In a large bowl, combine 5 cups of glue with 5 cups of water, stirring well. (less water makes the slime firmer)

  • In a separate container, dissolve 2 teaspoons of borax in 1 cup of warm water to create slime activator.

  • Gradually pour the borax solution into the glue mixture, stirring continuously until slime forms.

  • Let campers assist in adding glitter, beads, or foam balls.

3. Exploration and Sharing (20 minutes)

  • Distribute slime equally to campers.

  • Allow campers to explore the texture, stretchiness, and color of their slime.

  • Add food coloring or dye or fun beads to the glue mixture and mix thoroughly.

  • Encourage campers to describe and showcase their slime creations to peers.

4. Clean Up (5 minutes)

  • Place slime in labeled containers or plastic bags for campers to take home.

  • Clean workspace promptly and thoroughly wash hands.

Assessment:

  • Observe camper engagement, creativity, and teamwork.
