EQUIPMENT

12 beanbags

4 tall cones

18 short cones

OBJECTIVE
Today we are playing Tic-Tac-Toe II. In this game, the objective is to long jump to the tic-tac-toe board and place your markers (upside down short cones) so that you get three-in-a-row before the other team does.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • I will divide the class into four teams.

  • Before the game begins, two teams will be assigned to a Tic-Tac-Toe course, each with three markers of a certain color.

  • Students will Ro Sham Bo to determine which team goes first.

  • When I say, “GO!” the first student in each line will begin with a running start and long jump towards the Tic-Tac-Toe board.

  • After you land, you may run the rest of the way to the board.

  • After placing a marker, run back and high-five the next student in line.

  • When all markers are dropped, you can shift markers around until your team gets three-in-a-row.

  • We will begin a new game when a team gets three-in-a-row.

Game 1: Play a full practice game.
Game 2: Play best out of three rounds and see how fast students can play each round.
Game 3: Rotate teams so that each team plays each other for the best of three rounds.
Exit Ticket: Students perform three long jumps off the run for distance on the way to put the jump rope away.
