STORYLINE
Today we are playing Tunnel Tag. Your goal is to avoid being tagged.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • I will select one person to start out as the tagger.
  • Before the game begins, spread out onto the field.
  • When I say, “GO!” the tagger will try and tag you.
  • The tagger may only use two-finger butterfly tags.
  • If you are tagged or go out-of-bounds, you must make a tunnel with your legs.
  • You can only be freed if another classmate crawls through your tunnel.
  • We will begin a new round when I select a new tagger.

Game 1: Play as indicated above.
Game 2: Increase the number of students needed to go under a tunnel for a student to be freed.
Game 3: Tagged students have to make a bridge using their hands and legs.

TEACHING TIPS

  • Approach: Play on a half-field only.
  • Approach: Depending on class size, increase the number of taggers.
  • Approach: Have taggers wear flags to tell who they are.
